MP3 files are the most common type of audio storage available online. The files are compressed so perfectly that they are small enough in size to be able to store thousands of them on your devices but still have the high quality of a CD. MP3 files offer high compatibility and give ability to play on any computer or laptop no matter what operating system they use, the majority of phones and of course they are also compatible with IPods.

The majority of the software programs that come installed on your computer when you buy it that are used for playing audio will be compatible with the MP3 compression. Windows media player, Winamp and iTunes are the most common software programs that are used for playing or for transferring MP3 files but any of the software available on the internet will be compatible with the MP3 file as well. The programs create an easy platform for not just listening to the music but for sorting, organizing, or moving the files to other devices.

With just a simple click of the mouse button you can have selected your favorite songs and chose to have them moved to an IPod, cell phone or a CD. The programs diversity in allowing you so many options at your fingertips makes them priceless to many users. You can select your music, have it transferred to your device, and be listening to it from that device in just minutes and without the need to purchase any special software.

Those who own iPods are incredibly drawn to the MP3 files. The files are available on the internet in several locations and can be bought and downloaded as singles, full CD collections or even downloaded free of charge. This makes it easy to have a huge collection of only your favorite songs that you want to listen to. You will never have to buy an entire CD again if you only need one or two songs.

Those who own iPods use it to listen to their favorite tunes while travelling, exercising or jogging, or just relaxing at home. The iPod has made large home stereo systems and even car stereos obsolete with the ability to place them on docking stations. The sound and the volume received from the IPod docking stations is the same quality you would expect from a large home stereo. The high quality that is offered from your iPod is not affected with the use of the high quality MP3 files.

The triple layered compression decreases the size of the file and never loses the quality of the song. You cannot tell the difference from listening to an MP3 from your iPod or from listening to an original CD from a quality home stereo system. The files are so easily obtained and can be transferred to your iPod without purchasing special software this makes the files a first choice for all who are downloading music online. The small size of the files adds an extra benefit since most of the iPods are able to store thousands of the MP3 files on their hard drives.

Electronic book readers are nothing new. Over the past decades, many have actually tried but failed, until Amazon that is. Ever since the Kindle, it’s actually groovy again to be reading. By and large, it is in vogue especially among the executive and academic ranks. Everyone would want one, for whatever reasons; work needs, status symbol, lifestyle and what not….. Whether you’re pro or against it, it captures your attention!

With the launch of Kindle 2 Amazon has integrated the entire business of e-reading. The Electronic Book Reader is not only filled with smart features, it’s also connected and mobile just like the cellular phone. It is essentially a cellular eBook reader in that it has wireless coverage anywhere in the US for Amazon bookstores plus browsing text-centric websites like Wikipedia, Google and others.

The original Amazon Kindle wasn’t much of a looker but you can’t say that about the new Kindle. Looking stylish and a lot more approachable than its predecessor, the Kindle 2 is also an ergonomics masterpiece. Whether it’s by chance or choice, the appearance is very Apple-like (iPod) and that’s a plus with many folks. But looks aside, it’s a functional gem in its own right.

If the Amazon Kindle 2 looks great and grab the limelight, that’s a bonus, not the original idea. But seriously, it’s supposed to just disappear into the reading. Like a good paper-filled book, it’s the proverbial judging the content and not the cover but what the heck! It’s that lucky star again for Amazon. Having that said, the technology packed into the Kindle is surely worth a mention.

The most distinctive feature of the Amazon eBook Reader is the Whispernet. This is a wireless service for acquiring content and some degree of internet access. It also carries the Whispersync feature which links other Kindles and its associated devices such as the iPhones and iPods plus others in the future. When you Buy Kindle 2, Amazon will pay for the lifetime connectivity of the particular e-reader. The network is 3G-based so it doesn’t have to be in a hotspot to operate.

Yes, the Amazon Kindle eBook Reader is but a book. And what a book! It’s any book you wish, out of 275,000 and you can carry more than a thousand of them everywhere you go and access the rest in less than 60 seconds. Amazon has publicly stated its goal of availing any book that’s ever printed in electronic form for the Kindle within the US. That’s a tall order but based on their track record, you don’t want to bet against it.

Everybody is quite familiar with compact discs, or more fondly known as CDs, especially in this day and age where information exchange is moving at such a rapid pace. They are a popular form of storing data. Years ago, it was used to store music files only. However, it didn’t take long for other people to see its efficiency in storing other data like text documents, graphics and even movies. Another good thing about it is it can store data once or it can be rewritable, good for those who are keen on saving money and the environment.

There are a lot of benefits of using a CD. One is that it is an effective tool for backing up files. Years ago, it was the floppy disk that ruled this area. Unfortunately, since it has a limited space for storing data, it became obsolete. Another reason why it faded into oblivion is the fact that newer computer nowadays don’t install a floppy disk drive. A second advantage of compact discs is that the files stored last longer. This is due to the dependable material used in manufacturing a CD.

A third advantage is that the consumer can access his data in the CD in a much faster manner. This is a huge turn on for people who are always busy as a bee and can’t afford any downtime for such delays. Last but definitely not the least, a compact disc is not that pricey. In fact, anyone can afford to buy it as any computer store.

Did you know that copying files from the computer to the CD and vice versa is easy that even a person with little know how on computers can do it? What is essential is that one should be very patient in learning the tools of the trade. He must also spend some time practicing so that he can master the job. Read on the next few paragraphs and see how this task can be accomplished without a sweat.

The first thing that you should have at hand is writable disc and your personal computer or laptop. Make sure that your computer has a Compact disc Rewritable logo. If it doesn’t, you can purchase one from a computer store or download it from the internet.

Then, insert your disc into the CD drive. Follow this up by looking up for the CD Drive Dialog box. Simply click the folder labeled open CD writable. Afterwards, select all the documents, graphics and folders you want to copy to your CD. Right click the mouse and then go back to the window showing your blank CD. After listing down all the files you need, go to the file menu, click it and write these files to CD. A pop up window will appear and you will see a box claiming that it is the CD writing Wizard. This is where you will name your CD. Automatically, the wizard will start copying the files.

If by some misfortune, a pop up window appears and claims that the CD writing process was not completed, try to remedy the problem by erasing some files. More often than not, it is just due to space constraint because you have way too much data on the disc. Go back to the CD writing wizard box and repeat all the steps mentioned above. Usually, if everything is okay, the process will be completed in just a few minutes. Sometimes, if you have very minimal files, it will be over in just a few measly seconds. However, if you happen to have heavy data like pictures and videos, then it could last longer, from 30 minutes up to an hour or so. If the screen shows that the task is completed, simply click the Finish button and eject the CD from your personal computer.

As you can see, CD copying is so simple that even kids can do it. Have fun copying!

If you’re not going to enlarge your digital scans then don’t pay to have them scanned at a higher resolution than 300 dpi. Even if you will be enlarging them you are probably wasting your money. 600 and 1200 dpi scanning services do not mean better scans, but they do mean higher prices. For your typical photographs 300 dpi is the wisest choice.

Most people have not thought about the fact that a photograph’s surface was not designed to reproduce an image like a negative is. So scanning a negative to enlarge a photograph makes sense, but a photo’s surface does not have enough resolution.

Wasting money is not the only reason to scan at 300 dpi. Photo scanning beyond 300 dpi produces huge files that slow down just about any use of your scans. Editing, viewing, and working with your files will be slower, and possibly much slower. And you will probably have to change the size of your scan smaller to use it for just about anything.

Top notch photographers don’t need to be coached on scanning practices as they already understand the issues. But if you are trying to gather some information to use for your own scanning project or to purchase scanning services, I recommend the relatively extensive discussion of scanning practices by Wayne Fulton at www.scantips.com

Make sure that your scanned photos are saved as a high quality jpeg. Photos saved in a jpeg format are compressed to lower the file size. High compression causes the jpeg to loose bits of information that are gone forever. High quality jpegs have very low compression and lose very little.

Whether you rotate your own photos after scanning or the scanning service does it make sure that you dont rotate the original scans. Most photo scanners require that your photos be in a stack when you send them in without regard to their orientation. Because your photos are recompressed during the rotation process you may loose bits of information and that can reduce your image quality. So keep your master scans untouched and use a copy to rotate or manipulate.

Some photo scanning services offer automatic photo enhancement. What you need to know is enhancement, or any manipulation, can cause jpeg files to be re-compressed and cause some quality loss. Make sure your scanning service provides you with a complete set of master scans and then a copy of them for the enhancements. Don’t ever use the originals to make changes. Always use a copy. You may find that you want to work on special photos yourself. When you do, always start with a fresh copy of the master scan.

There are all kinds of software both manual and automatic available to edit your photo scans. The manual editing software offers you complete control and unlimited do-overs. The automatic versions do a lot of good to most of your images and some good to the rest. Manual enhancement should probably only be used for those very special photographs otherwise you will be bored silly. Trying to choose an automatic enhancement software can be tricky because it takes some experimentation to discover which ones actually work. If your photo scanning service provides economical automatic enhancement that may be your best bet.

by Susan Reynolds

For anyone who has recently gotten into the world or download music and who uses a dialup connection there is one question which usually exists. Nearly all of these people wonder whether it would be a good idea to upgrade their dialup connection to a broadband connection of some type in order to download their music. The truth is that downloading music on broadband is almost a must.

There is simply no denying the truth. Downloading music without a broadband connection is a difficult process. Getting music with broadband is really the only effective way of downloading music.

One of the most common questions that people have who are using dial up is why would they want to switch to broadband. There is no denying the simple truth that it costs more and for many this is a problem. There are a number of advantages to broadband beginning with the fact that unlike traditional dialup service broadband doesn’t tie up your phone line.

Another advantage to broadband is the level of consistency with it. Unlike dialup connections broadband rarely goes down. Much of this is related to the fact that a broadband internet connection works in many ways like a traditional local area network which means it has less things that can go wrong.

Some people wonder why broadband is so much faster than dialup. One of the biggest questions surrounding this is related to the fact that DSL is capable of working at high speeds despite the fact that it works over the same phone lines that a dialup connection uses. Dialup fall’s short for two reasons. The biggest reason is that regulations limit it to 56kbps or kilobits per second. The other thing that hurts it is that it is connecting to a distant routing station. DSL works on phone lines but it requires the connection to go into a routing station that is no more than 1.5 miles from the location of the service.

Unlike dialup modems broadband connections are not limited in these ways. There are no regulations in place limiting their top speeds. Lower end broadband connections are capable of reaching over 500kbps and some of the fastest broadband connections available are capable of reaching as high as 65Mbps or megabits per second.

In relationship to downloading music, faster internet connections are better and this means broadband is superior to dialup. Taking a standard song as an example, which may run around 4Mb or megabytes, it would take around 9 minutes to download. Figuring the same 4MB song on a 640K broadband connection and it would take around 50 seconds. Some of the higher end broadband connections could deliver that same song in 3 seconds or less.

There is so much music which is available for download online. It takes far less work than going to the store and in most cases it is faster. Using dialup is a sure way to miss out on all the great music. Using broadband is the best way to make sure that you get the music you want quickly and easily.

The concept of DRM technology has been around for a number of years. In fact a lot of online music stores have used it for quite some time. The technology is a type of software which is built directly into the audio file which prevents it from being played in situations where it is not permitted to be played. This technology is often considered a good feature for companies who manufacture and release music but it has lead to a number of problems with people who buy music. This is especially true with people who specifically buy music online.

The most common problem which occurs for people who are dealing with DRM technology surrounds subscription services. A number of subscriptions services exist which allow people to download an unlimited number of songs but limit the songs to work only so long as the subscription service is active. This method works by requiring the user to connect their media device, such as an mp3 player, at least once a month in order to renew the music. The problem arises when someone is unable to or forgets to connect their device to their computers. Once the 30 day period is hit the music ceases to work whether the user is paid up on their subscription or not.

Another area which has seen some problems with the DRM technology is in relationship to businesses which sell DRM protected music going out of business. This often means that the DRM server gets taken down which can lead to legally purchased music not working at all or only working on the computer it was actually purchased on. This can be a big problem for many users who have spent their money on music.

CD burning can also be an extremely difficult task to complete when dealing with DRM technology. This can be a big hindrance to many users because they may only have access to a portable CD player or a car which lacks an aux port for mp3 players. Many people feel that if they legally purchase a song they should be able to easily burn it to a CD. After all, for many users the advantage to online music is not the avoidance of CD’s specifically but the ability to pick and chose the songs that they actually want to listen to instead of ending up with an entire CD with only one song they are actually interested in.

A number of the larger online distributers of mp3 audio have begun to release their music with DRM protection. Some feel that this is unwise because it increases the odds of people distributing the music illegally. Despite this fact many of these companies simply feel that the risk is acceptable if it ensures that they provide good customer satisfaction and ensure that their customer’s rights are protected.

The recently released Samsung LN52B750 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV has been leaving stores in record breaking fashion. This has come to no surprise to me as it’s set higher standards for the term HDTV which has left competition lagging behind.

Most features of the Samsung LN52B750 are pretty self explanatory, although the term 1080p isn’t a familiar term with most HDTV shoppers.

The term 1080p basicly means that there are 1080 “progressive scans” on the TV’s screen. A progressive scan is a line of vertical resolution. Up until recently, an HDTV with 720p was the highest quality money could buy.

The higher number of progressive scans an HDTV has then the higher amount of pixels it will have. The more pixels a TV screen has, the better it’s images will be. A good example to use to explain this would be to compare mobile phone cameras with top quality digital cameras. If you were to compare the images of the two, the digital camera would have much sharper images. That’s because its images have more pixels, and are therefore, much sharper – the same principals apply with HDTVs.

Each HDTV screen is made up of tiny little squares or “pixels”. Imagine your TV screen as a grid with hundreds of thousands of tiny little squares on it. In each square are the colors that make up your images.

If you replaced this grid with one with many more, smaller squares or “pixels”, then the images of your HDTV would be much clearer and sharper from then on. This is because the smaller each pixel is, the more detail can be shown on screen.

Assuming you’re watching a 1080p screen with 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, your TV will have 1080 lines of vertical resolution and 1920 lines of horizontal resolution. That is a heck of a lot of pixels to watch a movie or TV show on – two million, seventy three thousand and six hundred to be exact!

In conclusion, the more pixels your screen has, the better the image quality will be, and the more progressive scans it has, the more pixels it will have. 1080p is the highest possible amount of progressive scans available to buy right now, and will be for a very, very long time. It provides the sharpest and clearest image quality money can buy.

I bought my own Samsung LN52B750 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV a few weeks ago, and I have to say that 52 inches of razor sharp images is probably the best money I’ve ever spent!

by Martin W. Lucas

When you see another missed call on your caller ID, be it on your cell phone or the one at home, you wish you had a way to find out whose phone number that is, who tried to reach you and what they wanted.

Of course, you could just call the number back, but what if it was a wrong number, a salesperson or just someone you’d rather not talk to? There are ways to find out whose phone number those mysterious calls originated from.

It is your choice to call back or not but now you definitely have that option when you know exactly whose phone number it is. Whether unwanted hone call was a sales call or a prank call you can do something about it by obtaining useful information from reverse phone database. Getting a name is good enough but you will also find out the address and other vital resources.

It happens to most of us to write down a number of the person on a piece of paper, business card or a post-it note, but often we forget to include the name. A few days later we completely forgot what that persons name was. There is no worry to loose another precious contact name with reverse phone lookup. The phone database allows you to instantly look up whose phone number you have written in your notes.

It takes only seconds for the reverse phone directory to serve you information on whose phone number you put down in your notes, additionally you’ll find out where that person is calling from. It is easy to understand this alone can save you from embarrassment or potential business loss.

You don’t have to wonder anymore thanks to readily available phone number database sites. Convenience enables you to figure out whose phone number you have any time and anywhere you can access the internet. But you need to choose the right service, some are ridiculously overpriced, others offer poor results, some others are ridiculously complicated. Choose wisely!

Look for a phone directory with the largest database of numbers available, some of the web sites contain only land line phone numbers or are limited to regional listings. Nowadays most of people use cell phones so those numbers should be included as well. Above that, the right reverse phone directory should provide the history, so you would be able to find people that move around a lot.

What you want is a site which can help you find whose phone number you’ve missed a call from no matter whether its a published or unlisted number or if it comes from a mobile or a land line. Mysteries call for solutions, after all ” and you can find them by signing up for a reverse phone directory membership and finally stop wondering whose phone number that is on your kitchen bulletin board!
